An optimistic (and slightly scary) Justin and Kathleen at the Big Ten Pub

Me and Kathleen hoping for a rally by Wisconsin.

Malpractice Bash

First, I'd like to give a shout out to Justin's high school. Mukwonago High School won the Wisconsin State Division 1 football championship last night at Camp Randall Stadium. Justin was very excited he was able to attend the game (in the rain) with his dad and see his old coach and his high school win their first championship. I, however, chose to stay in the dry, warmth of my apartment with Justin's mom to chat and get ready for the Malpractice Bash. Justin enjoyed the rest of the evening with his parents and a few slices of cheese from Pizza di Roma.

My friend Joy was kind enough to host a pre-dance get-together at her apartment. She made delicious lasagna, cesar salad and garlic bread for everyone. I ended up not attending the dance at all and enjoyed some quality time with Katie, Todd and Joy and then headed over to Madison's Bar later to meet up with those who went to the dance. I got a chance to dance, so my night was complete.

Go Mukwonago!

Stretchy Donuts

As it get cooler (and then colder) here in Wisconsin it's time to enjoy warm, delicious treats. During a quick trip to the store I picked up some frozen rolls and soon I was frying away. Topped with cinnamon and sugar and accompanied by hot chocolate, the "stretchy donuts" were the perfect treat and we went to sleep warm and comfortably full.

Mmmm - stretchy donuts

Yum, yummy

Paul Bunyan Returns to Wisconsin

I know that it is growing tiring to read about Wisconsin football every week, but I promise this is it (well at least for a while). The last home game of the year took place this weekend and friends traveled from all over the Midwest to see the Badgers. The great part was that almost everyone stayed at our house! There are stories to tell, but they are for another time.

This was the 114th meeting in the Wisconsin-Minnesota rivalry. The winner each year claims the Paul Bunyan axe (similar to The Big Game between Cal and Stanford).

Wisconsin successfully trounced the Golden Gophers (who really thought that was a good mascot?) and reclaimed the axe. There is no special presentation of the axe. Minnesota won last year's game so they had the axe on their sideline. When victory was certain with a few seconds left in the game all of the Wisconsin players took off across the field and took the axe. They then proceeded to run around the field holding the axe up high. It was cool to see and a great way close out my last game at Camp Randall stadium as a student.
